what is the point of a hair rig?

The hair rig was developed to stop the carp feeling the hook length over its lips after taking/testing the bait.Became redundant soon after it was developed as people started using "through hairs" of the same material as the hook link! Its superior hooking abilities (compared to side hooking) have been the real secret of its success and why it has remained in use.

Get a copy of "Carp Fever" and it will explain all.
