Julian Chidgey can't stop catching pike on his by the look of it.

Dave Lumb suggested looking at them as an off-the-shelf pike rod so that should be a good enough reference.

Hope the cork handle is better on the newer models; my Multi-Feeder 3G one split, as have others from what I've heard,

Anything that's good for a pike rod is going to be well OTT for a bream rod regardless of distance and method. My heaviest "long range" Bream rods are 1 3/4lb TC and Ive yet to find a situation where I need more.

I know that PVA bags/method feeders etc require a heavier rod than is traditional but why the modern trend for such powerful gear?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

The water I'm thinking of targetting requires a chuck of 80yds plus to get to the bream. It is heavily fished for tench at ranges up to about 60yds and they never come out to tench anglers (night fishing included). I used a boat to put out bait and drop rigs at distance and hey presto...bream.

I'm looking for a set up that will allow me to fish method feeders at this range and noted a good few articles with lads using the heavier rods to put out these feeders. It's not as if you're likely to lose many bream as they dash off in the margins - doesn't tend to happen imo.

If I could get away with using my 1.75tc Chimeras I would but they're just not up to the job.
