Apart from the obvious dog biscuits, what weird and wonderful alternatives have you used to catch carp from the surface?

A rather 'enigmatic' mate of mine told me he used Flumps (marshmallow)!

In life we all have an unspeakable secret, an irreversible regret, an unreachable dream and an unforgettable love.

yes i have heard you can use marshmellows, if you think about it they are soft, sweet and bright, sounds good in theory, never tried them but will next summer for carp. Also there are floating pellets and bread, not weird or wonderful but effective :)

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

I once cut some yellow foam into the shape of sweetcorn and floated it with a real piece, and caught one

how did you float it with a real piece?? did the foam pop up the sweetcorn to the surface?? If so i might try that next summer :D
