Startmatch fishing

I'm thinking of starting fishing in matches, however whenever I go fishing just for the sake of fishing I only ever catch 3 or 4 fish on average, I know you need to catch more to do well in matches, can anyone give mesome advice on fishing matches nad how to catch more fish on a float rig, using maggots or jellets. Thanks

Expand your bait selection and fishing methods. I don't match fish but it would seem a good starting point. Use pleasure fishing as a test bed to experiment with different baits and methods to improve your catch rate and your confidence in changing methods when you feel the need.

Go to your local water and spend a few weekends watching the matches. Then concentrate on the one who seems to be the fishery expert.
