canal fishing

has any1 been fishing on the canal in derbyshire ?? , i caught a 2lb perch there , (which i know is small to u guys, but for me is my bigest fish i eva caught ! ) what do u ppl think of canal fishing ?? and what fish do u normally go for ?

hiya csmaster, dont you kid yourself a 2lb.perch is a good fish, its certainly not small to me, i dont know the canals in derbyshire, but genrally canal fishing can be very good & hold most spieces of fish, the best areas to look for are over hanging bushes, bends, wides,weed beds,etc. the features are there if you look for them, i tend to match fish on the canals so i try and catch anything, my best fish was a carp of 8lb 1oz. in a evening match on a 22 hook & 1lb. hook length & No2 elastic (bit lucky or what).

geez, that is lucky ( and a bit of skill )

i went to a private lake b4 to fish for carp, i think they where ghost carps, and the lake was called 'the canal' cas it was shaped like it and it was VERY deep ! i gaught about 30 1lb ish carps in about 6-7 hours that was the only time i have caught carp, would like to catch some big carps .....
