Dear All,

Hi to everyone on this forum, at last i have found this amazing place jimmer. G'day Tel, Elton and people, it seems our stupid university computers will let me and Jimmer on this forum.I bet you can't wait for our posts! They will be serious, well nearly. This will be my place of refuge for the close season as i can't go fishing because my overdraft is too big and i have to work. Please feel sympathy for us poor, penniless students.

Dave.

Damn! And there was me thinking I'd clicked the 'No-Student' option in the set-up facility for this forum biggrin.gif

Seriously, though, good to have you on board.

This wouldn't be a bad time for an 'introductory' thread. I know that the number of registered users on here is well into three figures already, so:

Hi, I'm Elton. 28 years old, married to Tania and living in Suffolk. Interests include fishing, websites and custom cars.

Over to the next person....

Best wishes,

Elton

John Tait here. 52 years young, married to an amazing lady (hi, Pam!!) - two great kids, James (19) and Daniel(17). James is heavily into the `Games Workshop`, Dan is computer-crazy, and makes me, who works with the blasted things, look like an amateur!! Mind you, there is always someone who manages to do that, no matter what I do - must be something to do with being so young !! Love fishing, motor sport, my dogs and cats, and cross-stitch (counted). Have carp-fished for years, but the rivers have now called me!! Now live in Cheddleton, Staffs., after having moved around the country a little with the company I work for.Local lad, so happy to be back !!

Hi I'm Pete,

Ex-student (after 10 years at Uni), now 'research consultant' (must be some good anagrams of that. Live in Loughborough Leicestershire, but am really a Northern Lancastrian sort of oik. Married to Genevieve from Brittany. Play lead guitar in lots of bands esp Tenebrae (a thrash metal band). Ride fast bikes and respect Carl Fogarty.

Lapsed match angler, now an all rounder with a penchant for smaller rivers, barbel, chub, tench and PIKE. Favourtie methods lures, stick float and touch feely stuff.

I'm 28 but a bit of a traditionalist.

Oh and I write for this glorious webzine YAY!!!

Hi, I'm Rich Harris. I'm 35, live in Enfield, London with my wife Jo and our 18mth old son Jake.

This is my second season fishing after an 18 year gap. Work and family commitments mean that I get to fish once or twice a month frown.gif

But it's good to be back!

I fish feeder for tench and bream, Leads for carp and waggler for anything else.

I generally fish small lakes and "carp puddles" - mainly coz i don't know any better! But I'm looking to improve and move on to better waters.

Hi Everyone,

Rosie Barham here. Middle-aged but still fairly flexible:-) Married to Derek - an all round angler sea, game and coarse. The best two sons in the whole world, David and Simon, who have also inherited the angling gene to a greater or lesser degree. We're from South-East Essex, by the sea.

I write for Anglersnet, Carpworld and an ex-pat newspaper in Tenerife - The Western Sun. Two books published, so far.

I enjoy reading, writing, playing piano, attempting to play guitar, cooking, walking on shingle on a foreshore when there's no-one else about, talking to people and observing anglers as they do strange things with even stranger gizmos.

Not expert at anything much apart from chocolate tasting, in which field I reign supreme and I defy anyone to challenge me - if they'll supply the chocolate, that is.

ATB,

Rosie

David Priddy, 37, computer contractor specialising in testing. Currently trying the living together thing in sunny Datchet, Berks with an American lady who I met in an online computer game (Elephant MUD for anyone interested). Most fishing done in Shopshire as I lived in Telford until last year. Reformed match angler turned all rounder with a penchant for chub in small streams and canal carp. Pressure of work (mostly away from home 'Darn Sarf') means my fishing in the UK has been extremely limited for the last 5 years however (none at all in last 2 years!) so I've been taking exotic fishing holidays to make up for it. Current list includes Zimbabwe, Namibia, Egypt, Canada & Brasil. Now I have a settled base however the urge is returning particularly as I have the Thames, Wraysbury, Horton etc right on my doorstep. As many of the holidays have been lure fishing I think this is the direction I'm likely to take as I found it a lot more interesting than when I last tried it as a teenager. Any suggestions for good clubs/pike/perch waters in this area much appreciated.

Other interests include cd & record collecting, Elephant MUD, Subaru Imprezas & writing long boring posts on here!

Hi All, Dave Barham here. I'm 27yo, and currently the deputy editor of David Hall's Total Sea Fishing magazine. I also do a bit for Total Carp and Advanced Carp Fishing mags.

I've been in angling journalism for five years now, but I've been fishing for around 23yrs.

Apart from the sea fishing, I do a lot of carp fishing, trout fishing and general coarse fishing.

So far I've caught over 100 20's during my carp exploits both here and in France, but I've yet to crack the 30 mark - maybe this year at Les Quis!

Got 2 vids out at the mo, both sea fishing, I've also been involved quite heavily behind the scenes in developing various rods for some leading manufacturers.

Plus.... I've got the task of trying to get Elton his first 20 pound carp this summer - he'll have to get a bit of practise after his last effort!

Watch this space....
