You think it's bad coarse fishing!! At a local fly-fishing venue I once managed to cast out a perfect imitation of a damsel fly, perfectly covering a rising trout..... then a mallard of around 4lb took my fly!! I can assure you that I promptly found myself in the longest fight i have ever had with a fly rod!!! twenty five minutes of following a bloody duck around, but guess what, in true record beating fashion, the hook pulled! A whole new meaning for the one that got away!!

Nightwing:

Bismuth is similar to lead, so you can use traditional duck loads, in 4-6 shot.

I went to a wildfowling conference a few years ago and saw some molybdenum shot.

It was a little bit lighter than lead but was about as soft.

A pellet should give up all it's energy, having spread a bit, without going straight through the quary.

The price is horrendous, I believe, if you can find any for sale.

The Dutch apparently buy it before Brits get a look in.

I now costs more to fire at a duck, than the bird is worth when it's dead.

Yet another way of banning something by stealth.

I suppose the anti's will be pressing for a ban on the release of trout into ponds that they would not naturally be in, or at above specific densities. They are proposing a ban on the release of pheasants.

Perhaps, just like live baiting, there won't be enough votes at risk.
