  1. Thanks mate. Any particular flavours useful? Also, if anyone else knows, would be a great help!!
  2. I agree that it would make a difference, BUT, I think the one thing which has become clear over the last week or so is that unless everyone wakes up a bit, that every angler will not stand up will they?!
  3. Just in case anyone from the NAA ever reads this forum, one question. How would anyone go about becoming a member of the organisation? Do you have to be experienced in the running of fisheries, or just an angler with an interest? After the debates I have witnessed on this forum since I joined, I have become very interested in the work of groups which represent angling and would like to know if i could help. Anyway, on with the forum, I agree that the more recognised anglers such as John Wilson, Matt Hayes etc are in a better position than the rest of us to launch a pro-angling campaign. One thing I would like to add though is this, surely with big name backing the angling companies would be more willing to provide backing?
  4. "twiggy what would have happened if he flew away" He did, that was the problem, he had me running round the bloody lake after him for ages, before he decided he wanted to land!!!
  5. For anyone who thinks that people are not DEADLY serious about banning fishing for good, have a look at this website, I think you will have a little awakening!! http://www.fishinghurts.com/proactiv.html I for one think this is a wake-up call to the angling world. Come on guys, isn't it time we were going to schools to explain the good side of fishing?
  6. I have said it before and I will say it again. If anyone is interested in doing something long term for the future of the sport, or if anyone connected to the angling authorities would like any help, then I will offer my services. Someone has to read this forum and stop talking and do something to protect the sport! Discussions like these seem to go nowhere fast!! My e-mail is matt@performancewales.co.uk for anyone interested.
  7. Has anyone on this forum ever fished at longleat lakes in Wiltshire, and if so, do they hae any advice on the best bait/rigs to use there aswell as the best locations to fish from there? Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks guys!!
  8. Surely there in lies the problem though, there are simply too many different organisations in fishing, with the NAA only being one of many. And while 'good old boys' in committees are sat round the fire, PETA and others are out sourcing funding and supporters. I'm sure that the major angling companies would happily provide help and support to an ORGANISED group, but there is the problem. There has to be one body formed which will cover ALL types of fishing, aswell as being full-time, professional and well funded. I for one would be willing to help set-up something like this but only if I could guarantee that it would be supported. Until there is a professional, commercially linked and strictly run organisation with full-time staff, devoted only to promoting fishing as a whole then we will simply be going round in circles.

  10. You think it's bad coarse fishing!! At a local fly-fishing venue I once managed to cast out a perfect imitation of a damsel fly, perfectly covering a rising trout..... then a mallard of around 4lb took my fly!! I can assure you that I promptly found myself in the longest fight i have ever had with a fly rod!!! twenty five minutes of following a bloody duck around, but guess what, in true record beating fashion, the hook pulled! A whole new meaning for the one that got away!!
  11. I would like to say one thing to all members and guests on this forum. As a relatively young angler of some 23 years old, I enjoy all types of fishing. I carp fish and have a p.b. of 25lbs, I fly fish and have a p.b. of 16lb of rainbow trout. I sea fish with a p.b. of 7.5lb Bass, and i enjoy fishing for pike, with all bait types, and have a p.b. of 8lb. I AM TIRED OF ALL THE STIGMA AND IN-FIGHTING AMONG DIFFERENT TYPES OF FISHERMAN!!. Will you all please stop f*****g around arguing about wether or not the EA was right in your opinion and please realise that FISHING IS UNDER THREAT, AS A WHOLE . It doesn't matter what you beleive politically, the anti-fishing lobby is a well funded and highly motivated LARGE group of people, who will never give up their campaign to get all fishing banned. PETA alone have an annal budget of around 8 million for anti-fishing campaigning alone. So can we all cut the crap and realise that if we do not nip this in the bud NOW , while we still can, we will be too late to save the sport for future generations. Angling AS A WHOLE brings hundreds of millions of pounds into the British economy every year, if we unite as we should, then we can easily put away any threat to our sport. If we become fragmented and argue like i have read people doing on this forum, then we are a finished sport already.
