I suspenct that there are some very big uncaught carp in the ouse. I remember walking in the dark back to the car with my dad after an evenings fishing, and hearing the loudest "splosh!" from the far margins which sent huge ripples right accross the river; and that was at least 10 years ago.

I moved away from your haunts last year so know it quite well.

 

The Ouse is about 30 - 45 minutes away. A closer option would be the Lea at Wheathampstead. Either the free stretch behind the Bull public gouse of Verulam club.

 

Why did I move ? Got bored of the 45 minute journey so have now got it down to a 2 minute walk if needs be !
