Forum woes.

First, let me just say that this is simply he best U.K. based fishing forum around. Period.

But, I wonder if I am the only one having problems lately reading threads.

For some reason, in the last few months, I have been unable to read more than about 25 to at most, 30, posts on any single page. If the page contains more than that, it seems to fill my meager storage area, and will only scroll down to a certain point.

At the risk of seeming presumptuous, I wonder if there is any chance of reducing page size to say, 20 posts, so those of us who are "memory challanged" can enjoy the entire thread?

Not to bring other competing forums into the picture, but FW recently reduced its page to 10 posts per, and I can now read them in their entirity(not that they are usualy as good as the posts here).

Or, perhaps a less graphicaly intensive version could be offered along side this primary one, as before the pics were added onto the names, I could usualy get the whole page. I think those things are great, but they do use up quite a little bit of storage space.

Anyway, thought I would give everyone something to discuss besides the CA!

What's your SWAP file set to, size-wise?

 

What's your Temp Internet Files storage allocation set at?

 

How many days' storage is set in your Internet Options?

 

I think Eltin wil confirm that a full page of posts is hardly anything, space-wise .. except if your various Options are exceeded

 

Otherwise, just choose the Option on the pAges to list ... say the lasy 2 days' posts

also if you go to your profile you can turn off the avatars (little picture) buy people names

this should also help with your problem.

I think Nightwing uses WebTV which will limit many of his options.

 

OTOH, most good bbs software will allow one of the personal profile choices to be the number of posts that constitute a page.

 

If that is a possiblity with this one, it certainly couldn't hurt to activate that feature.

 

It would also greatly speed page loading for any with slower dial-up connections (28.8 and the like).

Thanks guys.

Newt is right, webtv is the problem because it has very limited memory, and no options to change it. I keep spending the "new computer" money on fishing gear, so for the moment at least I am still stuck with it. Maybe, as newt said, the page display options can be enabled.

On the old carpnet bbs, which was also UBB based, this was alowed, and it let me set my personal pages to 10 posts.
