Good Spinning Rod for under £100

A 9ft rod rated to cast 15-50gr is absolute overkill for chub and perch.

Try something like a 7' Daiwa Regal Spinning Rod rated to cast 5 - 20g paired with a Shimano Exage EXG1000FA.

Load the reel up with 100m of 10lb fireline and you're good to go.

You'll then need to buy a spool of uncoated 15lb 7 strand wire, a couple of packs of small duolock snaps and small (size14) swivels and a pair of forceps so that you can spin up your own traces.

A few size 2 and 3 spinners, a couple of heddon torpaedo's and a few Shakespeare little S plugs in dull colours and you're ready to go fishing and the total bill should be well under £100.

slightly overgunned but I've caught plenty of perch & chub on spinnerbaits and small plugs (Big-S) with a 15-50gr spinflex. It's a rod which does give you options if you do want to target bigger fish ie. pike in the future.

Wychwood rods are always good value for money, I think when the spinflex bites the dust (or I fancy yet another rod) I'll buy one of their rogue lure rods.
