Pikemaster39,

Let me get this right. Are you saying you use front and back alarms? Interesting theory that, up until now my PS's, when properly set up with open bail arm, have been used with full confidence for sensitivity/drop back indications but maybe my MMX's will have a use over the Winter after all.

Cheers for that.

Andy Macfarlane:

I noticed the drop offs made by Leeda have 2 balls at the line clip instead of the regular "V" shaped clip.Although these are crap indicators on the whole,I find the ball shaped clips help with drop backs and solve the line jam associated with the Fox clips which are notorious for gripping the line when a Pike runs or drops back, which in turn, often prevents the alarm from sounding.I,m sure with a little inventivness,Fox could apply these ball clips on thier own drop offs.

I tried these a while back forthe same reason as Andy. However I didn't like them as you couldn't adjust the amount of grip very easily. This can sometimes be important for piking, but is vital when after perch.

As I mentioned earlier my favoutite is a Gardner clip. They do 2 models - the one I'm talking about is the chunky all black plastic one. These can easily be pushed into the foam body of the Fox Pike Swinger and then secured with some glue (I use Britfix Plastic Cement).

I do that tinca, as far as i can see its ok to use drop offs as bite inication but they canot tell you how fast the fish is running or not at all, sort of bib a braces type of thing for those awkward moments when having to have your eyes off the rods
