Red worms

not much to say here but that red worms are really good! if you haven't used them before they're quite hard to find, i had two choices after being told to use them last year, dig in big manure piles where they can be found at the bottom which is the traditional method or source them on the nintonet. they're not so easy to find and i'm not trying to advertise but they are there and despite being smaller than all the other worms generally on offer they seem to pick out the big fish

Give a man a fish and he will live for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will live forever

I'd second this, a very underestimated and underused bait, they are a bugger to get though unless you have a compost heap or manure pile nearby that you are allowed to dig in, luckily for me my grandparents live on a farm :)

Great for perch, roach, bream, and i read somewhere that a famous carp angler, when asked if he could fish with only one bait for carp what it would it be, guess what he said.....

:D

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

Many would I'm sure! Always have something on me to dig with.

So many forget the basics, its happened a few times where I've caught more on worms and bread than the boilie brigade. S'pose their excuse is that they're after bigger fish.

On reflection, redworms are Jim's favourite tench bait.

Who's Jim?

Yeh they are a great bait for pretty much every species, yet you rarely hear about them being used in magazines etc <_<
