Specialist Rod?

Just as soon as my wallet has recovered from the festive spending I'm going to be looking for a new specialist rod (I think this is what you'd call it!?!).

Main use will be waggler fishing for medium sized carp (5-15lb) and tench, and also for a bit of stalking and possibly light feeder work. Sounds like I could do with 3 rods but that definately isn't in the budget. :(

I don't really want to spend more than £100 and prefer longer rods (12-13 foot). Has anyone got any recomendations?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Paul, you will have to look for something like an "avon" or a fairly meaty carp waggler. But as was said you really need a couple of rods. They are around for a reasonable price, and you will be able to pick up a pair for around £100.

You won't go far wrong with a John Wilson Avon/Quiver System rod.

I've had mine for about a year. It's helped me land plenty of Tench on float and Bream on feeder.

It's a nice light rod with a lovely action. It's at home on a rod rest waiting for the quiver tip to spring round as it is 11' long stalking along the bank. A must if you want an all-rounder for around £70.

Thanks for your input everyone.

I was wondering whether an avon rod would do the job. Does the Wilson job come with various tips? Are these all designed for quiver tipping or do you get a stiffer one for using the rod for waggler work, etc?

The new system JW Avon/Quiver the capability for all round float rod either at 11' or 13' courtesy of a short dolly butt. Added to this there is the ledger top which has 3x quiver tips lightish mediumish and heavyish!

In short it's a very good allround rod that will cope with most situations I am delighted with mine.
