River Severn Tewkesbury

Has anyone got any tips for fishing the Severn in Tewkesbury? I understand there are some sizable barbel present but my experience is in far smaller rivers.

You don't make it easy on yourself do you!

 

There are barbel, but at this time of year and with water-levels the way they are, things are likely to be very difficult.

 

I've had my best ones from the weir downstream to the pub at Lower Lode, but I've heard that fishing the Avon above Tewkers is easy and better. I fish rolling meat balls a la Ray Walton; ace method.

As the diamond says there are a few fish around this area but they are hard to find. If you go up stream a few miles to Severn stoke you stand a better chance of catching a few fish and the chance of a double.
