One thing I found you needed to be prepared for was the need to wade out to fish alot of the swims on the lakes. Most of the places we found (Skandeborg in the main but also Stillings)meant you had to stand all day. However, there are some areas you don't have to stand, such as the Youth Hostel stretch on Skandeborg, but be prepared as often there are not very many places you can fish from even on enormous lakes. You also have to buy a permit for the particular lake or river (usually tourist information places or the youth hostel as above) as well as a licence from the post office. One place we stayed got the permit for us but we still had to get our own licence. You need to take all of your bait and I would suggest even if you want to use sweetcorn, take it from home as everything is very expensive over there.

hi again.

re. licences

you have to have a national licence unless you are over 67,a lot of the Kro's(inns),tourist offices and post offices sell them.

local licences are for areas ,for eg.the Silkeborg one covers all the rivers and lakes nearly up to Viborg,

the lake at Skandeborg has been netted.

Sweetcorn and worms are essential, there are lots of places where you donot have to wade out,if you like i can give you details of our travel agent, who has been going for over 20 years and escorts a trip each year and will show you the best spots. There is even a brand new boat this year, which was good.

we usually go in june each year,my hubby catches on float but most of the others use feeder,i did well with my 4m whip and 6m pole.there about 10 to 15 people go and its an escorted trip as the travell agent goes as well, what sort of accomodation would you want,we go in a summer house,2 blokes went self catering not sure how that worked .. tins and eating out i think.the rest stay in an old kro which is danish for inn, breakfast and evening meal, its nice but i wanted to get away from all the blokes and the boozing.

tim is always willing to take new people in the group.
