New Fly Rod Suggestions

Looking to buy a Fly Rod for a leaving present, have around £80. I have no knowledge of Fishing and don't want to waste the money, any suggestions welcome.

Fly rods come in different ratings for use with different lines so any fly-angler usually has a selection.

 

Not just different ratings, but different lengths for the same rating.

 

Then there's the action with some preferring soft to stiff, all-through action, or mid-tip action etc

 

Whether fishing still-waters from the bank, or boat, or rivers (or the sea!), trout, salmon or pike will need to be taken into consideration.

 

What I'm trying to say is it's a nightmare selecting a rod for someone else to use (and the general advice for anyone thinking of buying a fly rod, especially an expensive one, is to try it first, probably at a game fair where there's an opportunity to try out a number of different rods when you have an idea of what you are looking for.

 

£80 isn't much when buying rod, very much in the starter rod range.
