Sweetcorn and fake corn

Sweetcorn can really blow as a bait on waters where it's used a lot, but I have never fished anywhere where fake corn becomes less effective over time, even the standard yellow variety.

 

Why is that? Or have you fished somewhere where it has stopped catching fish?

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

i suppose that because theres no taste/scent association between the two making it harder for them to identify it as sweetcorn ?.

I think Andy might be right, it looks like corn to us but what do the fish think of it if it does not taste of corn.

 

I have never been a big fan of plastic but have changed my mind this year and now feel confident using it. Oddly I have had more success fishing plastic corn on it's own then when fished with real corn as loose feed.

I'm guessing it's because the fish don't necessarily associate single grains of corn (fake or real) with danger. The same fish might spook away from carpets of the stuff (or even a handful or two).

Interesting you put that as I was using double corn on a hair rig and getting hardly any bites. I have used this rig for some time now and its always done amazing, but in recent weeks it really seemed to slow down with its effectiveness.

 

Anyhow, mid session I managed to lose my baiting needle :( What could I do??? Well I simply snipped off the hair and went for a single grain straight on the size 10 hook.... Bingo, I landed a fish a cast right until the end of the session....

 

A single grain of corn direct on the hook HUGELY improved my fishing.... Weird, but worth a try!
