Waters Closed - Foot & Mouth

Guest Elton

Recommended Posts

If you know of any water closures from RELIABLE sources, can you please post details to this thread.

Please do not use this thread to discuss the issue. We need a definitive list.

Thanks,

Elton

I phoned the BAA today and as yet they have not shut their waters but that will probably change by the weekend, also some of the landowners are closing their land anyway so it will pay to check before travelling any distance.

More from Alan Roe:

David Moore, Recreation Development Manager, Anglian Water said:

"We have closed the access tracks around our reservoirs to protect livestock on adjacent farm land. Access is available to car parks and boats for sailing and fishing. There has been excellent co-operation from visitors and our leisure operators over the weekend and general acceptance that these restrictions on public access around our reservoir tracks are both sensible and responsible.

We are keeping the situation under review, listening to MAFF advice and will relax the restrictions as soon as is possible.

At Ravensthorpe additional boats are being transferred from Pitsford Water and rowing boats will be available free of charge to anglers while the ban on bank fishing remains. The usual charges will apply to motor boat hire.

The Rutland Water Fly Fishers litter pick planned for next weekend has been cancelled as a precaution".

Boxmoor & District Angling Society have closed their fisheries on the Upper Ouse at Stoney Stratford and the River Stort at Harlow. The lakes at Bourne End and Apsley remain open.

It seems that Izaak Walton (Stafford) A.A. has closed all or some of its waters, but I cannot get this verified until tomorrow. For those in my area, check before you go.
