Plug pulled on fishing festival because of too many crayfish

BUSINESSES are reeling after the Loch Ken crayfish crisis saw a popular fishing competition scaled back.

 

Organisers of the September Fishing Festival cut the event from a week to just three days following complaints from fishermen about the invasive species.

No surprise there really, used to be a member of New Galloway club for many years bank fishing Loch Ken and now apart from one visit for old times sake I have'nt fished it for nearly 10 years as bank fishing (for pike) has been ruined by crays

 

Your baits have hardly settled and the crays are on them , bobbins jumping up and down as they devour the deadbaits, popping them up is no better as the b*ggers just swim up and pull the baits down on the deck and eat them
