new rod

most of my fishing at the moment is carried out at commercial fisheries where I have mixed fortunes,my problem is that I somtimes encounter low double figure carp in the margins which I either loose or takes me an age to land,so I would like a rod that has enough backbone to tackle these fish whilst not compromising fishing for smaller fellows, has any body got any names of brands or partickular rods that I should consider for about £50.

(I have a woman and two daughters who bleed me dry) :) thanks in advance for any help.

I have wrestled with reality for 46 years, still wrestling.

My first piece of advice is that you pray that they don't ever read this Forum, or all your tackle (personal & fishing ! } will be in great danger

What you need is an old fashioned style of rod, an Avon rod, 1 1/4 lb test curve, just slightly less powerful than a 1 1/2 lb carp rod, yet still capable of chucking a float out. ( for modern carpers, yes you can get a carp rod of less than 2 1/2 lb test!) Mine is a very old Daiwa Tornado 12 ft match rod, action all the way to the corks, £30 landed double figure carp and tiddlers, no probs.

Probably best with 6/8 lbs. but a little margin either side.

This would be agood choice though.

You may be able to get a decent one second hand. They used to be popular but not 'Macho' enough for many of todays Carp and Barbel anglers.

Good luck
