Ad-aware Update Available

You can get version 5.71 of Ad-aware from Cnet. I think it is faster than earlier ones and has greatly expanded the database of spyware it looks for.

 

If you aren't familiar with the program, it is a free thing that will scan your PC for spyware (little applets that send information about your PC to internet sites without asking your permission). It finds files, folders, registry entries and will ask you what to do with them. I usually delete all of them but you may find some you want to keep.

 

Doubleclick, for instance, gives you some fancy cursors to play with in addition to spying on you.

First time I ran the new version it found over 200 entries that the previous version hadn't found!
