Out Of Memory - Help Needed

Guest Elton

Recommended Posts

I need some help here from computer buffs, if possible.

I'm getting a lot of 'Out of memory' errors lately and need to know how I go about doing a bit of a spring clean, what checks I can make to ensure that I haven't got stuff running that doesn't need to be running and anything else that may help.

Keep it in English, please, as I don't really understand "techy" biggrin.gif

All the best,

Elton

Try clearing your temporary internet files

Click on VIEW at the top of your internet page.

Choose INTERNET OPTIONS

This should put you on the GENERAL page

Then click on DELETE FILES in the TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES section.DO NOT tick the box marked SUBSCRIPTION CONTENT this contians your pass words etc...

This will delete all the files ( pages ) that you have seen on the internet. They are stored there so if you go back later they can load faster in theory, but they do take up a lote of space in your hard drive.

It's a good idea to do this as it saves space and programs will run faster.

Using the computer like I think you do ( a lot ) it maybe a good idea to do this at lest once a week.

Cheers, Tangler. I do delete these files fairly frequently, but what I'm about to do is move the folder to a different drive, as I installed a partitioned 30 gig one a while back (okay, my mate installed it!).

Any other ideas anyone?

All the best,

Elton

Only one? I've got: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/ http://www.go-fishing.co.uk/ http://sea-angler.org/ http://www.discworldshop.com/ http://www.thecollectorsguild.com/

and the oldest of the lot, http://www.murphville.demon.co.uk/

I also own umpteen different domains for future projects, including lures.co.uk, pillocks.com, seaangler.org, nesa.co.uk, eltonmurphy.com and eltonmurphy.co.uk. I've probably got more, but I can't remember them all. I also own kellywest.com - Kelly was my cousin and was killed when she was hit by a car a few years back. It broke my family's heart to have our little girl taken from us at such a young age and I'd like to put up a tribute site to her one day.

All the best,

Elton

If the spring clean doesn't work, have you considered buying more memory? It's pretty simple to install (just a matter of taking the lid off the computer, plugging the new memory chip in and switching on). If you need any help send me an email and I'll take you through it step-by-step smile.gif
