What feeder braid for quiver tip

Andy, regardless of whether you use mono or braid, I'm guessing that the recommendation is still going to be to stick to 8lb b/s, regardless of the diameter of the braid - possibly even a lighter b/s as braid had no stretch at all (like mono) to give any cushioning effect ... using a heavier b/s of mono or braid is simply going to put you (theoretically) at risk of damaging the rod before your line snaps - though IMHO you'd need to be very heavy handed to actually do that.

I'm guessing that fishing a canal, casting and fishing at vast distances is not likely necessary so you are perhaps not likely to see any real benefit in the sensitivity of bite detection - unless you've got real reason not too, I think I'd be sticking with a good robust mono at 8lb b/s - that SHOULD give you a realistic chance of handling the bigger carp (providing you're not fishing tight to snags), and quite frankly, if you can't hold the fish on 8lb mono, I'd suggest that the use of a braid with a significantly higher b/s MAY hold the fish - at the expense of snapping the rod!
