Tench fishing

hi ya'll, just joined n pretty exited, hoping this will be the answer for a lot of my novice questions.

Started fishing a couple of years ago at 24 n loved it instantly. Catchin pretty much everywere i go, but there always the same fish. Perch (half a pound max), roach (pound max), skimmers all day long and bream (up to 3 pound). trouble is all these fish i think are pretty easy to bring in. my mates have cought big tench n carp (with the same set up as me), some even pike and it looks like a lot of fun. i fish ponds and cannals and am desperatley seeking a good battle with my first decent sized tench (had a couple of baby ones in a small gravel pit). any hints as to what tackle, rigs, baits and locations to use.

Hi and welcome to AnglersNet.

The Coarse section is more active and I imagine you would be more likely to get answers there.

I'd love to help but I'm a few thousand miles away from you with different species and different rigs so I am useless in this case.

Mostly bluegills, largemouth bass, catfish (channel and flathead the time of year and blues in cold weather) and carp where I live.
