Thanks kirisute,

I've never seen foxes around that stretch of river before and it turns out there's properly a whole family of them :)

well a rural fox can have a territory of 2000 hectares give or take if the environment is suitable..but they adapt very well to their environment so an urban fox family might go as small as 50 hectares

just because you've seen one in the area doesn't mean it will be a regular visitor unless its discovered a sustainable food source or habit.

equally it could be your close to a den or there is a den close by...in which case just follow your nose! youll smell the bugger long before you stumble across it!!

If I'm close to the den will that upset/anger them because I don't want that.

A family of foxes stalking me and attacking me with little notice if I get to close to the den without knowing, No thank you! ;)
