A nice little site.

Wine is and always will be a matter of personal taste, I don't go much on French wine for instance, I prefer German, Italian or god forbid even American or English wine sometimes, they can be very good. The only way you would impress a wine drinker is, if that particular wine was to their liking, or you may be in danger of having the opposite effect, such as them thinking you had a poor taste in the wine that you drink. You can take advice on what to drink with a certain meal for instance, but it may not be a choice you would make yourself, if you knew what it was like. A name on a wine can be a good guide but you can get good and bad in all wine, the weather, how much sun the vine got, or when it was harvested all can make a difference to the smell or taste.

If not a wine drinker and you think you might like to get into it, I suggest that you try a few and find out what your personal preferences are, don't just take someone elses bench mark as to wether a wine is good or not.

Oh and a good wine is to be savoured to taste it, you most certainly should not quaff wine, save that for a cold larger on a hot day. :D
