Scart Not Working??

I got a Sony home cinema kit as an unexpected Christmas present from the Missus. Now I've had some probs. setting it up as the various component manuals tended to contradict themselves. Anyhow, it's basically now all up and running except for the VCR. The only way I can playback and watch a tape is by switching to a dedicated channel tuned to the VCR not, as I was hoping, by pressing play and letting the Scart kick in and switch to an AV channel. I've swapped Scart leads with the one plugged into the DVD and it works o.k. i.e. it is complete, no pins cut etc. I've also tried various combinations of AV outlets for the VCR/DVD/Cable Set Top all to no avail. Is there something I have missed such as needing to manually enable/select something on the T.V. or V.C.R.?

There may be a menu option on the TV to activate the AV sockets. Or it could be that you have to set a menu option on the VCR to output through the AV socket.

I am not be up-to-date with the latest kit, but I notice you say

Does this mean you have used an RF connection to do this? If so, was this intentional or essential because it would not work with the SCART connection?

Otherwise you could try contacting SONY service help line, assuming they have one.

Lid,

Yes I've set up an RF lead. I did this as well simply so that I would have an additional means of monitoring what I was taping. It's got me stumped this little prob.

Cheers
