AVG has detected trojan horse irc backdoor sdbot.up.but it can't put it the virus vault any ideas, im sure you clever types will make this look easy (remember im thick with computers)thanks in advance big al

Try running a scan from RAV and see it the RAV program can deal with it for you.

 

This is a fairly bad critter and you really need to get it gone. If RAV fails to destroy it, post back. There is a manual removal process but it's fairly long and not a lot of fun to do.

newt thanks for the link ,im probably going to get someone who knows what to do to look at this as rav failed to remove it.any ideas will be appreciated .cheers big al

You may find that by simply turning off / stopping the various processes they mention and depending on what OS you have, possibly booting into safe mode before the removal effort will let the AV software deal with the beast.

 

If not, the manual removal instructions are included.

 

Both the automatic and manual instructions should work fine with AVG even though all the mentions are of using Norton. Based on the fact that AVG allowed it in, it's possible that you need an update to your virus .def files though.
