a lot are completly illegal even for licenced users ,a few? years ago they! tightened up on the frequency if it strayed beyond a specified % off frequency the radio was illegal ,we sold a half dozen hand helds from an alarm system just before the rules changed (1992 ish???) after that they would have cost more to sort them out than they were worth ,i'm sure a ham will correct me if i am bullshining

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

The 'radio' sets you have are only speaker/mikes and will not TX or RX.

 

Why not just do a radio ham course and get a licence?

 

You could hire PMR systems.
