West Oxfordshire

Hi all

I recently moved to west Oxfordshire and have access via a club ticket to the Thames and Evenlode. I've snuck a couple of (small) pike out of the Thames and had a few bits on maggot, but I fancy getting into some decent chub and perch before the season ends. Any tips for either river (baits, conditions, tactics, etc)? Don't worry about specific locations.

I've been thinking about mashed bread and crust or lobworm near snags and looking for creases in the current, moving if nothing happens. A decent start do you think?

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

It all looks very fishy, but the weather recently has been terrible. Any hints about the barbel would be appreciated too, but I expect that's asking too much!

You could make up some cheese paste and leger that, or floatfish a lobby on a size 14!

A size 14 seems a bit on the small size for a *real* lobworm (especially considering the size of even a smallish chub's mouth). I find I need at least a size 8 and often go bigger than that. I'd use a 14 for just a lobtail, maybe.
