Ready tied rigs. Who uses them?

Bringing this one back to life,

I use ready mades and not ashamed of it. I also make my own. Some of the chaps sound like the old fly tyers types who reckon that you are only a good fly fisherman if you tied your own fly.

I do that also but still enjoy being caught in the tackle shop by all those pretty flies and shiny beads mmmmmmmmmmm"!!!!!!

Bob.

Funny you should mention old fly tiers? I`ve just started having a go at it.

No! I don`t think someone is a bad angler for using them. I find myself tying rigs in bad weather or when I can`t afford the time off work to get to the beach. There`s nothing like putting together a rig that works.

As Phil stated earlier, some ready mades are just not balanced!! What`s the point of a light 2 or 3 hook flapper with a bloody great swivell dragging against the tide?

I bet you`ve had reason to curse the odd designer rig?

Paul.

We don`t use J`s anymore!!

Hi

The only ready tied rigs which I have bought in the past

Were read tied mackerel feathers, and to be quite honest

Most of the rig bodies used on the feathers leave a lot to be

Desired. I don’t know what breaking strain a lot of these

Shop bought rigs are, but I would never give them more than

A gentle lob.
