Sharper pics?

One for you Steve, Playing around with my new lens today, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find it worked well with camera set on auto, actually I am staggered at the image quality!

What has surprised me is how well it works with the digi zoom...I am sure the pics are sharper with the lens attached.

I did quite a few test shots, in poor light and am getting good sharp pics of the local church which is about 400mtrs away with digi zoom that is the equivalent of a 2400mm lens.

I almost went for a scope to use with my Olympus 300c, sooooooooooooo glad I didn't.

Now I know that digi works by enlarging the centre portion of the pic, but I can't see why the pics should be sharper with the image already enlarged by the CL.

Any ideas?
