New Airflo Ridge Fly Lines

I've been looking at the new Airflo Ridge lines that have just appeared in the shops.

 

has anyone tried one? If so, what are your opinions? Does it really improve your distance, or is it yet another gimic?

Hi there, it all depends on what you wish the line to do, and what leader, fly, you use etc. If its weight for-ward or a shooting head then you will be able to use this line to get a further cast.But remember you don,t need to cast that far from a kayak. I try to use a shooting line and a heavy fly with a good leader, this helps me. I have used air flo lines and they work for me. Just remember to look after the line and wash after use. terry

Err... No and Yes.

 

Putting ridges in the line will have limited, if any effect on distance. A clean slick line, decent taper and most importantly good technique will.

The taper is a key part to the cast, for sure. But there are so many factors in fly casting. Just buy a good line and take care of it. I have spend hours in the park casting at a peg, sometimes I can get it right time after time, other times forget it . thats one reason for getting a kayak, it allows me to get closer to the fish . terry

The Airflo ridge line is a floater isn't it? With Airflos history of dodgy floating lines I'd steer clear personally.

How's the RIO Outbound line working out for you? Sportfish are doing these now. Can you cast it ok on the yak?
