Good Fishing

Went out today with my son and his friend. Got 3 fish over 10 pounds in about an hour. Not a bad day.

 

Anyone try that new rapala that is being marketed like crazy now?

Betcha it costs at least 8 quid? (never use a rapala in a snag infested swim) lovely lures but a bit expensive?

When I took up Pike fishing, I was taken for a fishing trip by Stuart Sutherland (who thankfully opened my eyes big time), shortly after joining PAAS. In my limited collection of lures, I had a Rapala Minnow. Stuart advised me that the best thing I could do with that particular lure, was break the lip off and use it as a floating 'twitch' bait. That wasn't the actual term he used but I think that's what he was describing. My knowledge of Piking lingo was fairly limited at the time, you understand.

I still have that lure and Stuart wasn't wrong. Pike love it to bits...literally. It's been painted, patched and put back together and I'm fairly certain if it went amiss, I'd go and buy another and vandalise it just as quickly.
