Isn't the coarse fishing closed season at the moment or is that a thing of the past?

I think your right there starvin.I believe that rivers and canals are closed.But certain lakes can be fished if they are Day ticket waters and not run by clubs.

Well thats the rule on Wessex waters I think.

Closed season is the 15th of March till 15th of June

Hi the exeter shipping cannel is open for fishing all year, there are also a number of other good fishing sites also open. One needs a rod permit to fish the cannel, but only membership to a fishing club after the 1st 1 lock. This gives one just over a mile of fishing. Membership of the club is 30 pounds a year and this allows one to fish the whole 6 miles of cannel plus around 14 other sites encluding kayak usable rivers. hope this helps, terry

Hiya Terry.

Your lucky having canals by you.We just have the Avon and the stour near us.Nearly all is owned by clubs.

There is one free stretch that can be fished in open season from a kayak.

There are alot of gravil pits nearby too.but again all owned by clubs.I have a feeling we can fish the water ski/jet ski lake in Ringwood.That has big pike.

I will have to look into it

Cheers Terry, it's easy to forget about the closed season when we spend most of the time at sea, thought it worthy of a reminder, good luck with the Pike, tried it on the Thames a couple of weeks ago, made a very nice change, sadly no pike, will be trying sing and draw and also my fly rod next time, long wait until June though.

Hi S/M hoping to get a few pike my fly myself, and have been spending a lot of time over the winter making all sorts of flies for this years fishing. I just hope that the fish take account of all the hours I spend trying to make something nice for them to try eating , but I don,t think they will, terry
