Felixstowe Yesterday

Spent a few hours on the beach yesterday in the pleasant company of Westie and Dave Barham.

 

We all got nicely sunburnt! Yours truly blanked, Westie had a small codling and Dave had umpteen pouting and poor cod. I was getting bites from them, but refused to drop below a 3/0!

 

Loads of crabs about, too.

 

Baits tried were lug, squid, rag and crab.

 

Think I'll give it a week or two before we try again

Catch report at Aldeburgh (I'm assuming near the Martello) read as follows:

 

2nd cast: Bass 3lb 2oz. Superb! Next chuck a Sole. The biggest sole I've ever seen! 1lb15oz. It was 45cm long, and 23cm wide. What a fish. The rest of the day was a bite a chuck. It didn't matter what he put on the hook, lug, sandeel, squid, MY mackeral, peeler, he had bites. By my reckoning he had, to go with the bass and sole, 3 codling up to 1lb 9oz, a dozen good whiting, a schoolie, and a dogfish.

Err.... I honestly couldn't care less about the "pinching an extract". What I said was very definately tongue in cheek. I'll put a smiley or something next time.

 

As for the sole, yeah what a fish. Awesome....
