Look at this in today's Guardian

If this spreads it could have a seriuos impact on all our fishing and not just on the put and take stocked waters as well.

It could be the fishery equivalent of foot and mouth.

Sounds as if this could become very serious.

 

Where fisheries breed and stock their own ponds they will have some natural protection, but:-

 

To help stop the spread of infections generally I think it would be a good idea for ALL trout fisheries to have a 'dip bin' so all anglers can disinfect their landing nets before commencing fishing. Then we must try and persuade every angler to dip their nets etc.
