Softish "hookable" floaters

Has anyone had much success with the softish "hookable" floaters you can buy in the tackle shops, either plain (mixer equivalents) or coloured/flavoured?

I've got an emergency bag of the mixer equivalents in my tackle box, and yesterday evening the small carp and even a few bream at my local water were suicidal on floating crust, usually taking the bait as soon as it hit the water. I thought I'd give the floaters another go on the premise that if they didn't work on a suicidal day they never would, and they didn't! Despite loose feeding mixers thoroughout the evening I didn't get a single fish on floaters, but caught as soon as I switched back to crust.

Theres a floating trout pellet which I've had some success with, but like yourself I prefer bread. Fish love bread...it really is that simple!

When I fish earlswood, I can whale out hundreds of chum mixers but as you say as soon as the bread slaps on the water they know where it is :)
