Leftover seafood pasta catches well

The missus tried a seafood pasta recipe a while back that was too fishy, so there were several small piles of mussels left on the side of the plates. Since the cockles/mussels/prawns trio are often recommended on here, I rinsed them off and put them in the freezer in the bait drawer. I finally got around to trying them during a short evening session yesterday, just flicking a large one out on a size 6 hook and a light leger. Within a minute the first carp was on, and the eventual tally on mussel was 5 carp in the 5-7lb range (the average for the venue), a 1lb tench and a 1lb roach.

They were from a pack of Tesco's fresh cooked mussel meat, 90 something p for a decent amount. They had been through the microwave defrosting and freezing cycle several times before use and were still pretty resilient. They're well worth a try if you've never got around to it.
