pole fishing advice please

I have recently bought myself a pole, I have no idea about which line or hooklinks to use. I have 16 elastic and 12 elastic in my tips and need advice on what breaking strain line and hooklinks to use. I have been using 3lb mainline to a 2lb hooklink, a local tackleshop advised 5lb 14oz, 0.15 as a mainline but no idea about hooklink. At present I am fishing carp puddles to get my string pulled.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark what pole have had, I assume it a carp pole with the elastic you mentioned,

12s elastic 0.12 to 0.13 through this will be

4.1 to 4.12 bs depending on make eg powerline

shimano ultrega, with your 16s elastic go 0.15

5lb + again on make,i never put a hook link

fish through i find this gives more control but i never go above 12s elastic, Other pole anglers

will give you there info, take it all in,because

you can never get enough.

The pole is a Maver Moby Dick an all rounder I was told when I bought it.
