Braintree Sea Angling Club Match Report

Braintree Sea Angling Clubs last match of the season would decide who would be the beach champion for the year as only one point separated Peter Costin and Barrie Senior. The match, a fur & feather match, was fished at OrfordNess. The anglers were greeted with a heavy frost and a south westerly wind. Sizeable fish were hard to find although a few a dabs put in a welcome appearance to ensure all anglers had fish. The wind increased throughout the day and as conditions worsened fishing became more difficult. It was Barrie Senior who took top place and secured the beach championship with 65 points over the season. His mixed bag of whiting, dabs and a codling for 5lb 9oz gave him the honours. Kevin Thorpe took second spot with 2 codling, 3 dabs and a pout for 3lb 12oz. Peter Costin was third with a dogfish, 2 dabs and a whiting for 3lb 4 1/2 oz and was the runner up in the beach championship with 61 points. Chris Leonard was fourth with 2lb 13oz.

Hi KJ thorpe. Nice to read about your club. I see you deal in fish weights rather than length. Do you weigh and return your fish ?

Also are you interested in swapping links ?

Our site is www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk

As a rule we weigh and return on the beach based on our clubs size limits. Length is something we may start using next year to gauge the weight but want to try it out and judge how accurate it is for ourselves.

No problem swapping links.

Thanks

Kevin
