I didn't know about the seatbelt law. :(

I'll mention that one to them back at the yard.

Mind you I think only one, maybe two of out trucks are fitted with them.

Thinking about the multidrop get out clause I bet the passenger has to wear on all the time???

Dave, This whole HGV, Tacho, Licence,Seatbelt,Driving times...is a bleedin minefield mate, ...you would have to be a Philladelphia lawyer to understand it.....but, read this..

Trucks

· Since October 2001 it has been compulsory to fit seat belts to all new trucks (and vans weighing more than three-and-a-half tonnes) for the driver and in any other forward-facing seats.[12]

· Older trucks may not be fitted with seat belts, in which case there is no legal requirement to wear one. However, it is strongly recommended that drivers wear seat belts as a minimum crash protection measure.

· The seat belt law for van drivers and passengers changed on 1 March 2005. Delivery drivers used to have an exemption from wearing a seat belt when conducting ‘local’ deliveries although prior to this amendment there was no maximum distance specified for ‘local’ deliveries. The seat belt exemption for delivery drivers now only applies when travelling 50m or less between deliveries or collections. It is hoped that this amendment will raise the wearing rates of seat belts in vans.

.cut from a Gvt Website, and then look at the link below,, about seatbelt laws in trucks.....

Hi norrie and a happy new year to you too

i know you dont have to wear one if your on multi drop.

I was told that when I was delivering milk last summer, 50-60 drops a day.

My previous job at NewLook only 8 drops a day. Where is the line drawn to determine a multi-drop environment?
