Fish finder power source

Oh right, I'm with you. I like the idea of having bare wires to start with, that way you can modify to whatever you like, cool.

 

One more thing, sorry lads... is it essential to add an adequate fuse to the live wire from the battery?

 

 

most will come with an in-line fuse and full instructions on assembly.

 

you may also want to incorporate an additional power switch between your battery and the fishfinder. i was advised to do this (but haven't yet). by all accounts when the fishfinder is all linked up (even if the fishfinder is off) the current can cause the connector to rust over time, the additional switch isolates the current away from the connector and no rusting in theory.....

in relation to the last comment about leaving the battery connected it causes electrolysis which breaks down the wire, i've put crocodile clips on the wire end for ease of disconnection.
