Just boiled up a parti mix and while other seeds such as the tares in the mix have gone mushy the maize is only slightly softer.

 

I boiled the particles for about 30 minutes. Will maize go completely soft or is it ok to use quite hard?

Maize doesn't go as soft as other particles and does remain slightly hard.

 

I have always put mine in a large thermos flask (not right to the top) and then pour in boiling water , screw down the cap and leave it overnight.

By the morning I consider it soft enough to use.

I use this method for hemp and other particles and pulses I cook.

 

I can't really comment whether yours is soft enough, hopefully someone else will come along..
