Has anyone used liver as bait before?!

 

Now i know there are plenty of good baits packed with scent but i have used liver at close quarters on the river for chub with some success.

 

If you were to hook a piece of liver on a pennel rig with bait elastic that would at least help protect from the cast and nuisance fish.

 

I'm going for a couple of hours tonite and will be using it on the bottom and on a float as a test to see if it works.

 

Will probs use it for the next few sessions along side other baits to see if there is a difference.

 

My thinking behind using liver is it is packed with blood and so will give out a good scent trail for a long time,which will give fish a better chance finding my bait (theory anyway!!)

 

The only worry is i will either blank (high possibility) or only attract dogs and eels, though if the latter would at least be a success.

 

May try to fry it lightly so as to give a tougher outer skin.

Ahem......i got crabbed out!! and not one bite.

 

I will stick to tried and tested methods in the future.
