Hayling Island or Southsea?

Good afternoon everyone. I am planning to drive down south tomorrow Saturday (22 Sept) for some fishing. I not sure whether to fish Hayling Island or Southsea? I just wonder whether anybody could give me any idea or perhaps tell me what's the fishing like in those locations at the moment. I fished Hayling a couple of weeks ago (thanks HA for the good advice). Although I only caught a few mackerels, I like to try my luck there again as I truely like the place. However if there is nothing to fish, I may try my luck in Southsea. Any advice?

Thanking you in anticipation

Gerry

Thank you HA.

A friend and I went down to Hayling on Saturday. We fished the right hand side of the Inn on the beach from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM - 4 rods with rags and mackerel baits. Not a bite. Not even a rattle on any rod. So we moved to South Parade Pier fishing the bay. Baits were rags and makerel, again we blanked. This was rather disappointing, more so as 2 young men fishing a few feet away from us on the front right corner of the pier could not stop catching good size bass. Within 1 hour they had bagged 7 bass. I asked what bait they were using, and was told mackerel. I am not sure what we were doing wrong as we were also using macky, perhaps running leger was not the right rig? I am feeling a bit disheartened at the moment as I have blanked both times I have been fishing Hayling (apart a few mackerels 2 week ago) and the South Parade Pier. Perhaps if any body has any tips, they could pass it on so that we can enjoy catching something after driving all the way from Twickenham? We were both using running leger on one rod and the other rod a 2 hooks paternoster rig baited with rags and mackerel.

Thanking you all in advance
