Broadband connection

Okay, so this isn't the end of the world, but it is mildly irritating. I recently had to restore my PC to its original factory settings and after a day spent trying to get everything back to how it was, I now notice that every time I click on a link to a different website, the Dial-up ISP dialog flashes briefly on the screen. Everything works perfectly okay, but this didn't used to happen before. Anybody with any ideas how to prevent it?

If, once connected to broadband, I tick the box button that says "never dial a connection" this stops it happening, but I then have to un-tick the button every time I log on, which is a nuisance.

TESTING... sorry about that, I was just making sure that if I ticked the "Never dial a connection" option, I was still getting a refreshed page while I remained logged on, rather than a cached version.

p.s. the answer is that yes, it does retain the ability to update, which raises the question of why the dial-up icon re-appears every time I switch websites, when it obviously isn't necessary. Oh dear, I think I might be turning into a trainspotter.

For anybody who's remotely interested, the answer seems to be that I have always connected to the internet by clicking on one of my desktop website shortcuts, meaning that I have been connecting through Internet Explorer. I have now set up my connection again, making sure that the ISP shortcut was placed on the desktop. I now connect using this, and have altered the connection instructions in IE to "Never dial an internet connection". This has now solved the problem.

Even better, drag the icon into your Quick Launch toolbar and you can save yourself the mighty effort of performing one of those two clicks.
