What do my learned friends consider to be the best carp day ticket water in the Surrey area for a pleasure angler hoping to catch his first 20lber.

 

When I mean best I mean:

 

decent average size of fish (i.e. reasonable chance of a twenty); fish in good condition; not stupidly easy, but catchable (i.e. shouldn't blank); peaceful, featureful waters; clean/safe/well-run places; respectful anglers; fishes well year round and the fish respond to varied tactics (rather than exclusively boilie/leger.....not that I mind that, but it nice to stalk as well, ge3t them on the top etc)

 

I very rarely get a chance to night fish, so somewhere that is pretty reliable in the day

I can't recommend the best as I do not know many Surrey waters but if you are looking for a day ticket carp water then you could try Bury Hill. It can get busy at times but should not be to bad at this time of year.

 

It might not be quiet enough for you but the words day ticket and carp water are not likely to produce a huge list of peaceful quiet waters just outside of London. However BH is a rather pleasent water and has good facilities and a chance of a twenty. It might be worth a trip before it goes members only. Night fishing is restricted to a night membership but they do get caught during the day. I would say its a boilie water but other methods would/could work. I would not recomend fishing off the top as far to many birds.

Hello, first comment on here in years!

 

Was just browsing and saw your post. I'm not sure where you are in Surrey but I believe a really good day ticket fishery to be Thorpe Lea - http://www.thorpeleafishery.co.uk/

I've been lucky enough to catch some of the first fish from there before it opened but recently haven't fished it but its still believed to be an incredible day ticket fishery.
