Bought doom4 from argos thursday ,it has a dvd but unfortunately uses little of it ,still got 1 day 8 hours for the rest to download.

Why cant they put the greater part of it on dvd?

I thought rage was big but this is 54 gb and my broadband very slow grrrr

What i saved on the game i am using heating up the room with the pc running continually

Came as a bit of a shock to me on my nephews xbox one when it has to download the rest of the game. All i can say is thank feck i set it all up before christmas. 20gb for fifa alone. Hard drive is almost all used and he only has about 4 games!!!

 

I heard a few parents moaning about it turning on thw xbox to then have to wait a whole day for their kids to play a game or even the next day!

 

Also i never pegged you as a gamer never mind doom! Thats even more of a shocker!

Played the original doom on the uni mainframe there was a great time to be had even then ,dont let age fool you i had my first computer in 1979? Followed by spectrums etc A ibm xt in 89 upgraded it to an AT then onwards till now .

My cpu is causing a lag (graphics and memory fine) so time to flog a few bits and get an octo running at 4 gig rather than 3.2gig.

Had an hour on it so far it finally finished downloading 2 hours ago and i then backed the game up on a seperate drive for safety,i only play first person and now the broadband is to slow for modern multiplayer games i cant have the fun of old playing MOH etc online

 

Not as atmospheric as doom3 you could smell the electric when the nasties appeared perhaps they come later?

I thought rage was a big download but it started out fine then demanded i drive a car ,i dont do driving i even walked everywhere in farcry LOL

I will put another fan in tomorrow it gets a bit hot on the leg after a while!

 

I did set up a network using serial cables at my last place so me and the kids could kill each other ,its far easier to do it 20 years later !

 

Games are what pushes computers to have more power you dont need quad sli to write a letter (not got it now but the mobo can do it but my last machine was triple sli)

Doom 3 was the only game that gave me the creeps when they appeared and the first resident evil on playstation when you come across the first zombie and the.camera zooms in to its eye. Would probably still creep me out infact.

 

They certainly dont make games like they used to. I was hook on fallout 4 for a good while there. Excellent game imo.

 

Just now im hook on space engineers for the pc. Cant wait.to see how star citizen turns out it looks rather epic.

I liked exploring space games but i got stuck on one where you have to race some guy to proceed (cant remember the game but it was pretty samey in places) ,i am not competitive enough to do racing or driving i like taking my time to explore not be led down some path etc.

Freelancer that was the name

 

Doom3 made me jump when you were crawling through a tunnel in the floor and someone banged on the ceiling LOL

I found fallout vegas less atmospheric than fallout 2 ,there were no little dust devils and the intro music different and few mutants ,fallout 4 is far better than vagas but not found out how to get a magazine rack to store my porn on yet in my nice room in vault 81

Big freelancer fan here. Still play from time to time. The modding is still goig strong cant get game in.shops anymore but.can be.downloaded then have a mod applied. Discovery freelancer is a good mod with new ships etc.

 

I pilot the haggis hunter, a large cargo vessel amd the ginger ninja, a small nimble fighter class

 

Star citizen is from the same dude who done a bit of work on freelancer. He was sacked by ms because he was taking too long and never finished it. His vision on star citizen is basically what he couldnt do on freelancer. Star citizen has been in dev for years he just keeps adding stuff there seems to be no end in sight bit what they have so far is really impressive.

 

I did manage to get in to a free flight weekend but it was so laggy i couldnt do anythig except walk around and the blurred graphics effect made me feel sick.

 

Also people have spent thousands of pounds buying ships that aint even in the game yet for a game that isnt anywere near complete

 

i get a feeling its not a game.for the.casual player. I cant spend days grinding.my arse off for a level 2 shield etc

I always play in easy mode then lose interest then go back and increase the difficulty ,hardest one i played was a vietnam war game where it was one shot and your dead ,not my cuppa tea but some like it.

The worst thing on online games is kill cams ,you hide and knock someone off and he knows where to find you when he respawns not exactly fair

Not fond of consoles i had a couple but hate the controllers ,i dont get on with the mushroom things but the 4 way pads are fine

Biggest fright online was playing MOH (or the other one) i looked behind me (i was laying prone) and some headless player was running at me (bent over with no weapon ) i almost crapped myself bugger knows how he did it?

Do what i do then. Run up and fart on his face. If lucky he will see it on kill cam then sit in another corner and wait for him to come to your camping spot.

 

Ive a few spots where i just alternate from one corner of a room to another. I got one guy about six times with him determined.to kill me camping behind a building.

Its not camping snipers dont camp they snipe ,they cant be anything else LOL you have to hide or some git kills you creeping up on you while your looking down the scope.

If you had a mate they could watch your back like real snipers have ,i die alone (sob!)

I gave up playing online when opponents saw me firing and simply moved before they got hit! Damn this slow broadband

Dont get me wrong i didnt mean camp in the derogitory sence like you would hear the kids screaming at you. I love sniping finding a hidy hole. Im like "well yes thats what snipers do. What your doing (360 degree mid air spin at point blank range with a 40x scope) isnt sniping is it"

 

battlefield 4 is great for sniping as the playing field is huge. Cods just too small and you get spotted right away.
